Kell Robertson–All The Bar Room Poetry…

December 10, 2008

I collect poetry books…lots of poetry books.  I just received a 1974 copy of All The Bar Room Poetry in This World Can’t Mend This Heart of Mine    Dear — by Kell Robertson.  I scour Amazon and sometimes get lucky.  This was from Litmus the same folks that printed Bukowski’s Poems Written Before Jumping Out of an 8 story Window.   It originally sold for a buck.  I paid more, but hey it is snowing here and getting close to Christmas.

So, who the heck is Kell Robertson?…an outlaw and one of the best.  Click here to find out.

kell-robertsonI have not made a “living” at this stuff I do.  I made a few bucks when I was a country western singer (which is basically what I’ve always been) and I got paid for a few readings.  I sold a few books.  Traded them for a meal, a beer, a kiss, a smile, a song, a place to lay down, a poem, some friendly time with a lady, and now and then even a few bucks.

Jack Micheline on being a poet…

December 10, 2008

I never wanted to be a poet.
I just wanted to be a human being.

Either you are one or you are not.
Most poets are not poets.
To be a real artist is a unique and valuable asset to this planet.”
