Hey bartender, gimme a haiku for the road

Last Call

inside nursing my
last beer outside hookers wait
for the light to change.

After The Bars Closed

not done this before
she said as I put the key
gently in the lock.

Digging Bones of Lost Sonnets

still sleeps with his ghost
writes candle light midnight verse
that no one will read.

These are very good……the three work well together as different views of a man, and each stand apart, they don’t feel forced or counted…actually they’d all be great openers to longer works 🙂

hmmm, the last one is my favourite. I am a complete idiot when it comes to Haikus and pretty much gave up trying to be anything other than an idiot after I read a huge article written by a friend that explained them… and I was still confused. Each one of these has a different mood though and there is a cheeky smile in the first two before the inner stillness of the third. I like them very much.

Thanks for the comments and suggestion. That had not crossed my mind about a longer work–hmm–thanks.

I am much the same with haikus and don’t pretend to stick with the eastern philosophy on these, but hey there is always room for variation and modification. Thanks for the comments as always.
