Waiting for Christmas

most days
it was
like waiting
for Christmas
the anticipation
of opening presents
leave it to beaver style

was superseded
by peaking out
the curtain waiting
for headlights coming
down the street
that came
too late
too drunk
too many times

with the unsaid
promise
that things
would be different
next year
after the wise
men sobered up
under the star
of Bethlehem

That is a different tone, dark suburbia, cool, i am casting the movie, i truely hope you are not offended that i want to cast William Macy with moustache as you? Or perhaps Kurt Russell, i haven’t decided yet,

  2. very sad. I really like the last stanza.

Oh this is very sad, the undercutting of expectation……lovely work. Love William Macy, great actor.
