brautigan meets bukowski

I had just cut
the hole in the ice
when I got the text
saying you had left
this time for good
it was like the time
when brautigan
met bukowski
in some afternoon bar
and neither
had anything to say
and nobody wrote
a poem about
the other
but drank alone
two stools apart
and here
the lake trout
looks up at me
through wtf eyes
and I say
